Been thinking today. Anxiety attacks and depression are a real pain in the arse for me. But what does it do to the people close to me?
I owe my wife a lot. She puts up with my constant low self esteem, anxiety, and depression issues with the patience of a saint. The fact that small, seemingly insignificant things can appear magnified when wearing anxiety spectacles make seemingly pointless events almost explode in a massive blob of worry.
My wife probably wants to smash me in the face with a large hammer sometimes. I probably don't recognise the problems anxiety attacks and depression cause others. But when the dark cloud arrives, it kind of becomes all encompassing. In some ways I wish I could be more like my wife. Not in that I would like breasts, and the ability to give birth to children (although I imagine that the magazine deals would pay a few debts) but would like to attack the day with confidence and vigour.
I am grateful to my lady wife, my parents, and my immediate family for their understanding and support. Don't get me wrong, I know people suffer far worse than myself from these things but support helps to hold you up, until you stand on your own two feet.
I guess when thinking about this whole thing, you do have to remember it isn't always as straightforward.
Now.... best go and hide all the large hammers from my wife.
