It has been a fair few days since I have been bloggering or whatever you call it.
The main things I have been pondering over the past few days is my general thought process. It can be a pain to sometimes be hindered by this nagging voice in your head that is constantly asking all the what if questions.
What if they don't like it? What if I start getting nervous? What if I start to panic and make a complete arse of myself?
Things like that were commonplace in my head a while back. Every event had a path of questions and queries that were repeated in an almost robotic style when the occasion arose. I imagine that this began to wear very thin with the good lady wife too after a while.
But recently I have tried to shift the focus, and work on a more positive and forward thinking outlook. For quite sometime, I have written a series of spoof news stories and adverts based on a strange fictional village. For all the time they have been written, they have sat dormant, while I stew over the what if elements of the equation. This past week, however, I recorded the first few in what I hope to be a series of spoof news podcasts, based on the village.
And I managed to do this by changing my thought process, and realising that it is easy to hide behind the worries and anxieties but by doing that you are starving yourself of self esteem and only helping the anxiety take hold.
By slowly recognising the endless stream of what ifs are only holding you back and shifting the emphasis from pausing to progressing, you will then start to feel more positive and capable.
If it has worked (fingers crossed) for me, then if you are anxious, give it a go. Most why nots turn out pretty well, it turns out.
