Been a few days, so thought it might be time to pop in and say hi. Thursday involved a trip to the the GP. After the obligatory 1hr wait to see the doc, everything went as planned. I left the appointment feeling positive that I had got my points across, and the doctor agreed to finally make some tweaks in my treatment.
One thing the doctor did ask, was when I first started having difficulties with anxiety attacks, and depression etc. It shocked me that when we traced it back, we concluded it was around the 12-13 year mark, when I was still at college.
That's a hell of a long time ago.
But, on the positive side, Its added more clarity to things. It has made it easier to pinpoint certain events, earlier in the timeline which could have been triggers for things later on. In doing this, I have started to understand maybe why I think the way I do and why things are more 'what if?' than 'can do'.
I don't honestly know if the waffle posted on this blog has benefited anyone else, or maybe adjusted how people think about mental health issues. Like I have mentioned before, if you saw someone with a bandaged hand, you would ask them how they are. Someone suffering from any form of mental health illness, well the bandage is hidden inside, and sometimes is falling off. Have a think, if you see a work colleague, neighbour, friend you've not seen for a while who looks down, or maybe you know they suffer from anxiety or depression related illnesses, just ask them how they are. It could make a massive difference, and re-apply that bandage.
